Parameter identification of small distributed hydro generators during excitation system start‐up

Concerning the penetration of renewable energy resources into power grid, investigation system dynamics to meet demand and maintain stability has gathered momentum recently. On other hand, evaluating generator parameters in distributed generation (DG) units as a subsystem large-scale grid is crucial for control analysis purposes. To this aim, simple efficacious algorithm identify operational synchronous generators (SGs) small hydro DGs proposed here. The required data SG identification using recommended approach during excitation start-up while DG disconnected from grid. Using test procedure, adverse impact magnetic saturation on estimation results can be avoided. Furthermore, straightforward parameter (PE) procedure established here obtain intended recorded data. Finally, method was applied 10 MW DG, are discussed.
